PHOTO: Guatemalan Coffee Cowboys

Ever wondered where your Starbucks coffee beans come from? Well, these two cowboys doing business in the street in a small village outside Cobán in central Guatemala live in the lush fertile green hills where the magic bean is produced. A major coffee-growing area, farmers and cattle herders wander the streets in this region with large brass buckles on their belts, denim & checked shirts and white cowboy hats.

Wandering around the colourful markets piled high with green avocados, bright red tomatoes and orchids, this is the breadbasket and beating heart of Guatemala, where friendly indigenous women dressed in colourful traditional woven shawls and long flowing skirts smile from every street corner.
